Mermaid Digital Painting

Alright so this last project was really something. I learned a lot. I got a lot of feedback and help from my friend Norman for which I was very grateful. I hope that everyone else enjoys the final look as much as I do. I am going to start with the final product and move backwards.

This is the final version. I am pleased with how the little details came together.

This was when it was mostly done. Though at this point the hair color was not quite working.

This was the first color lay-in. I was trying to quickly get the color idea across before I focused more on solidifying my ideas. I also moved the eye a bit at this point as in the sketch it looked a little off.

This was a more solid drawing from the sketch that I based the main form off of. Although these lines were not the final lines used.

This was a really great journey. I had a fun time working on this piece and I can say that it is definitely one of my best so far. I'm excited to start working on something new.

6.22.11 Sketchbook

First week of summer break! Finals were fairly brutal, but it's nice to be on break. I have two doodles to post. The first one is one that I actually did last week but didn't really get around to posting. The second one I drew today after an exhaustive amount of drawings came before it. Today was a challenging day in that I was having a really hard time getting into drawing, nothing I drew seemed to come out right, and so I kept going until I finally got something that looked decent. It was really hard as a few times I just felt like giving up.

Today I was doodling and came up with this little character. (above) He was fun to work with.
